This year’s annual “Day at the Races” for the Equine Research Centre was the most successful since the fund raiser began in 1993. “The credit for its snowballing success is due to Sue Burns, the chair of our fundraising committee,” said Andrew Clarke. “We at the Centre are all deeply grateful to her for her ongoing hard work.” Between ticket sales and the silent auction, which featured tickets and a private jet to the Kentucky Derby, stallion services and rare art, the event grossed over $50,000. The industry support is critical to the ERC’s ongoing efforts on behalf of all horses.
The Bondele Cigar company hosted a Cigar and Cognac evening at Woodbine, hot on the heels of the Day at the Races. The evening featured a silent auction with proceeds donated to the Equine Research Centre. “We couldn’t be more grateful for their show of support, and we hope that the company thrives with the increasing popularity of cigars,” said Andrew Clarke.
