Authorities in Valencia County, New Mexico, hope that a $10,000 cash reward will help identify whoever is responsible for a barn fire that claimed four horses’ lives.

Chief Deputy Gary Hall said a horse owner called 911 on July 10 to report a fire in her barn containing five Quarter Horses. On the scene, firefighters found the barn engulfed in flames.

“Then they called us,” Hall said.

Hall said earlier on the day of the fire the horse owner had raced her horses at Albuquerque Downs
