Hot and humid summer days can be hard on your horse, and making sure he stays well-hydrated is of the utmost importance. So how do you ensure that he drinks well? In last week’s poll, we asked readers what they do to ensure their horses consume an adequate amount of water. More than 700 people responded, and we’ve tallied the results!

Of the 748 respondents, 548 (73%) said their horses are good drinkers, so they just provide constant access to fresh, clean water. Another 113 respondents (15%) said they add electrolytes to their horses’ diet or water, and 17 people (2%) said they add flavoring to their horses’ water to encourage them to drink. Just 10 respondents (2%) said they use a commercial product designed to increase water consumption, while the remaining 60 individuals (8%) said they use other methods.
