Sarah Reuss, VMD, Dipl. ACVIM
Sarah Reuss, VMD, Dipl. ACVIM, is currently an equine technical manager for Boehringer Ingelheim, following roles in private practice and academia. As a board-certified large animal internal medicine specialist, her professional interests include gastric disease, neurology, and infectious diseases of the horse and foal. She also serves as president-elect of the American Association of Equine Practitioners.
Heidi Banse, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM
Heidi Banse, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM, is currently professor and dean at Arkansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, in Jonesboro. She received her DVM from Washington State University, in Pullman, completed an internship in large animal medicine at the University of Georgia, in Athens, and completed a combined residency and PhD program at Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater. Her clinical research over the last 10 years focused on the pathophysiology of equine glandular gastric disease.
Hoyt Cheramie, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS
Hoyt Cheramie, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS, currently serves as a senior equine professional service veterinarian with Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. Prior to transitioning to the animal health industry in 2007, he practiced general medicine, performance and sport horse medicine, and general and orthopedic surgery. His interest in gastric ulcers began during his internship and has only grown through years of practice and industry support, and he has become a leading expert in equine gastric ulcer syndrome and equine gastroscopy.
Phoebe Smith, DVM, Dipl. ACVIM
Phoebe Smith, DVM, Dipl. ACVIM, is a Kentucky native, graduating from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, in Alabama, and completing residency training at the University of California, Davis. She is a board-certified internal medicine specialist with referral hospital, private practice, and academic experience. Smith owns and operates Riviera Equine Internal Medicine & Consulting, a specialty practice based on the central coast of California.
Ben Sykes, BSc, BVMS, MS, MBA, Dipl. ACVIM, PhD, FHEA
Ben Sykes, BSc, BVMS, MS, MBA, Dipl. ACVIM, PhD, FHEA, is an equine internal medicine specialist based in Coffs Harbour, Australia. He was the lead author of the 2015 equine gastric ulcer syndrome consensus statement and currently works as a private education and research consultant focused on gastrointestinal health in horses.
