The British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) Council is honored to announce that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, BEVA Patron, will be opening Congress on Sept. 13 and will present BEVA’s annual awards. The 2012 BEVA Congress is taking place Sept. 12-15 in Birmingham, England.

Princess Anne has been Patron of BEVA since 2003. The position was previously held by her Grandmother, The Queen Mother. The Princess Royal’s enthusiastic interest in horses has led to her close involvement with many equine and veterinary charitable organizations. Additionally, Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Phillips, was a part of the silver medal winning British eventing team at the 2012 London Olympics.

David Mountford, chief executive of BEVA, said, "We feel privileged and flattered that Her Royal Highness has chosen to attend BEVA Congress this year, despite her busy schedule. We look forward to welcoming her and know that this year’s Award winners will be delighted with the bonus of receiving their awards from our esteemed Patron."
