AAEP to Host Joint Meetings on Colic and Business
Equine practitioners can invest in practical veterinary knowledge and valuable business education during the American Association of Equine Practitioners’ (AAEP) joint meetings, "Focus on Colic" and "Business Education Workshop: Transitions in Practice, Practices in Transition."
This two-for-one educational event will be held July 24-26, at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott in Indiana. One registration fee will allow participants to attend sessions for both meetings. Practitioners can choose from as many as 36 available continuing education credit hours.
"Focus on Colic" will prompt ambulatory practitioners to rethink their field management of colic, a leading cause of premature equine death. Meeting participants will refresh their knowledge of the physiological causes of colic and explore the latest methods of diagnosing a case before it becomes life-threatening. Supplemented by a complete overview of the equine gastrointestinal system, practitioners will examine special interest cases, including the management of colic in the prepartum mare and foal. The program also covers client communication and case-specific presentations. Veterinary students, new practitioners, and veterans of the profession are encouraged to attend this meeting.
"Business Education: Transitions in Practice, Practices in Transition" will bring current and aspiring practice managers up to speed on business tactics that work in today’s competitive economy. Participants of all levels of experience will learn strategies for proven success, including branding, marketing efforts, social media, benchmarking, employee relations, and more. During this workshop-style meeting, participants will discuss concerns and topics relevant to their individual practices
