Law enforcement authorities in Texas have obtained an arrest warrant for the caretaker of nine horses that died in Parker County last week.

On Aug. 12 Parker County Sheriff’s Deputies and animal control personnel discovered the carcasses of six mares, one gelding, and one filly on a property near Weatherford. Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Deputy Danie Huffman said that no water, feed, or hay was found on the property. Another gelding was discovered alive and transported to a local veterinary facility for treatment; however, that animal was later euthanized due to liver and renal failure, Huffman said.

On Aug. 15 the Sheriff’s department obtained a warrant or the arrest of the horses’ caretaker, Linda K. Pharis, Huffman said.
