AAEP Calls for Final “Good Works” Nominations
The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) is accepting final nominations for the Good Works For Horses Campaign, a year-long effort to honor veterinarians for extraordinary acts of service. Horse owners, equine industry groups and veterinary professionals are urged to nominate a veterinarian to qualify for the last monthly honor by Sept. 30.
Throughout 2011, the Good Works For Horses Campaign has recognized nine veterinarians for volunteering services beyond the scope of daily veterinary practice to improve equine welfare. Acts of "good works" can include providing low-cost services or vaccines at equine rescue facilities, volunteering services at therapeutic riding centers, educating members of the horse-owning public about proper equine health care, hosting community health care clinics, or participating in equine-related youth programs.
Practitioners selected for the monthly recognition will remain eligible for the year-end Good Works for Horses Award, to be presented during the Nov. 21 Foundation Celebration at 57th Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas
