And not just any polo match. The inaugural America’s Cup of Polo will be held today (May 12) at historic Morven Park in Leesburg, pitting an American all-star team against a British club.
The event is the creation of Loudoun County vintner and polo player Tareq Salahi, who will serve as captain of the four-player American squad. Also on the U.S. squad is Charles Muldoon, one of the top-rated players in the U.S.
The British squad features higher-ranked players, including some with a 9-handicap. Polo players are ranked in a handicap system, with only a few players in the world reaching the highest rank of 10, Salahi said
