An Adelaide, Australia-based company has attained a license to manufacture equine stem cells in Australia. According to Australia’s online edition of The Advertiser, Australia’s regulator of veterinary medicines–the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA)–granted the Good Manufacturing Practice license to VET Biotechnology last week.
“The license is a requirement to allow the company to provide equine stem cell services in Australia,” noted the article. “Vet Biotechnology has signed a manufacture and supply agreement with Adelaide-based Medvet Science as its registered manufacturer.
“Medvet will provide two services–growth of bone marrow stem cells and cryogenic storage of stem cells from horse umbilical cords–to treat tendon and ligament injuries in horses,” the article stated
