Three Event Horses Are Out

The past two days brought disappointment to the French, American, and Mexican eventing teams at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky.
Yesterday, the French eventer Metisse de Lalou, a ten-year-old Selle Francais mare ridden by Lionel Guyon, suffered an “acute episode of colic” at the Horse Park, according to WEG chief veterinary advisor A. Kent Allen, DVM.
“We treated the horse at the on-site clinic,” Allen said today. “When she continued to be painful, she was transferred to Rood & Riddle , where she underwent surgery for a displaced bowel. She was treated successfully and today is doing well.”
Rood & Riddle’s Dr. Scott Hopper peformed the surgery, Allen said
