"Enter the kingdom of horses." The first words in Equine Expressions From the Kentucky Horse Park are very appropriate. Much in the way the Kentucky Horse Park introduces a wide variety of breeds to its visitors, the book has at least one photo and one page of text for each breed. The horses range from the well-known Morgan, Paint, and Arabian to the less common Missouri Fox Trotter, Trakehner, and Friesian. Each of the breeds can be found at the 1,000-acre Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Scattered throughout the book are quotes on horses, the sources ranging from Shakespeare to Melville. The many photos illustrate the uses of each breed and show a typical example of each breed discussed. This is an excellent all-breed introduction and will be enjoyed by neophytes and horsemen alike
