World Equine Vet Congress Heading to India in 2011
The 2011 World Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA) Congress has been awarded to India. This decision follows three WEVA intermediate meetings held at various venues in India since 2003. At the 2011 Congress, WEVA will feature its first day of presentations for lay horse owners, farm managers, and riders. More on that new initiative will be forthcoming.

The 2011 World Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA) Congress has been awarded to India. This decision follows three WEVA intermediate meetings held at various venues in India since 2003. Ravinder Reddy, BVSc, MRCVS, is current junior vice president of WEVA and was among the Indian contingent bidding for the 2011 Congress. He said, "WEVA 2011 will be held in the beautiful historic city of Hyderabad, and we hope to see a large number of veterinarians come in from all over the globe to WEVA and India for a very promising continuing education and cultural experience."
The Indian Association of Equine Practitioners was founded in 1993 and has about 150 members. The cities of Pune, Meerud, and Bagalore have hosted WEVA intermediate meetings.
Program chair for the 2011 WEVA Congress will be Professor Vinzent Gerber, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM, ECEIM, FVH, head of Equine Internal Medicine at the University of Berne's Equine Clinic in Switzerland
