IHC Considers Alleged Viral Horse Trainer Incident
While photos of horse trainer Logan Allen of Iowa allegedly hosing a downed horse have gone viral online, the leadership of an organization that named Allen the winner of its 2013 colt starting competition is considering how it will respond to the incident.
On May 10 photographs began circulating on a social networking sites depicting a horse, lying on its side, its feed tied, while the animal’s trainer, Allen, allegedly doused it with water. Subsequent photos allegedly depicted the same horse covered with a tarpaulin and doused with water.
Allen was not available for comment.
The same day, a petition on Change.Org called on the Iowa Horse Council (IHC) to revoke Allen’s title as winner of the 2013 Iowa Horse Fair Colt Starting Challenge. The challenge, sponsored by the IHC, is a two-day event in which trainers compete to gentle, saddle train, and ride young horses using natural horsemanship methods
