I do not because my horses live in their stalls (because of showing) and can literally destroy a bucket on a whim. I feel the fire risk is to great. I do however, offer warm water in the winter which they LOVE. They will choose it over cold water every time.
We use heated automatic waterers in the paddocks.
My horses are on pasture 24/7 with a creek running through. I don’t need a water heater because it never freezes.
