As an adult back in the mid 2000s, I saw a morning press review which included sports to do to help you develop skills to help you in your career, and horseback riding was one of those, and that was the start of my journey with horses.
First on a horse at the age of three, riding lessons at 5, first horse at 9, Hunter /Jumper training barn at 11, turned professional at 19. Now I’m 70. Still doing it all!
I checked “Other” bc I first got introduced to & sat on a horse as a toddler, when my uncle put me on one out in the country somewhere. Although I don’t remember that, I do have a photo of me on the horse. Later, my favorite TV show was “Fury”, on Saturday mornings, which I never missed, & vowed to own a horse just like him, which hasn’t yet come to pass. As an adult, I finally got to take English riding/jumping lessons but had to stop due to a family issue. That was 40 yrs ago. So now my college-age daughter & I have contacted an instructor & will be starting lessons. Once we’re intermediate riders, I will buy us 2 horses who will board at the instructor’s barn until I find suitable horse property.
Pony ride at the beach…I was hooked! Discovered a trail-ride stable near my town and rode their horses weekly after that first ride.
My dad sat me on a horse when I was 3 years old.
That was all it took. 60 years later, the passion is still there.
