Fire investigators in Bedford, N.H., are seeking the cause of a barn fire that claimed the lives of 14 horses.

Bedford Fire Chief Scott Wiggin said a jogger reported the blaze after seeing smoke rising from a barn at the Perry Hill Farm, a horse boarding and rider training facility around 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 6.

Wiggin said that 14 horses were lost in the three-alarm fire, Wiggin said. The facility’s owners were able to lead eight other horses to safety.

"The cause of the is still underdetermined and under investigation," Wiggin said
