Days End Farm Horse Rescue co-founder Allan Schwartz has accepted a position with the Humane Society of the United States, where he will serve on the United States Disaster Team. Although Allan continues to be committed to the mission of Days End Farm Horse Rescue in Lisbon, Md., he felt a strong sense of fulfillment in assisting animals in immediate danger on the disaster front in the aftermaths of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He has chosen that aspect of animal rescue as his full-time vocation.

Days End has expressed that Allan will be sorely missed. The mission and goals of Days End Farm Horse Rescue will continue under the strong leadership of Days End’s executive director, Kathy Schwartz, Days End’s Board of Directors, farm manager and large animal rescue specialist Brooke Vrany, and other experienced staff. A Days End press release said, “These fine and qualified professionals, coupled with our dedicated and compassionate volunteers and donor partners will assure the continued growth and increased success of Days End in fulfilling its mission–‘Protection For Horses…Education for People.’ “
