On Tuesday, May 8, notices were sent to each state veterinarian “to make sure they got factual information” about the current foal loss problems, said Rusty Ford, Equine Programs Manager with the Kentucky State Veterinarian’s Office.
Ford said Florida is the only state thus far to notify the Kentucky State Veterinarian’s office of any additional regulations being placed on Kentucky horses (see related news item about the need to apply for a permit to ship mares to Florida). Other states have replied to Ford that they appreciate the information and want to be kept up-to-date on the news.
