Canadian Paralympian and 4-Star Parelli instructor Lauren Barwick will host “A Day with Lauren Barwick” at Lake Erie College, Painesville, Ohio, on Sat., Sept. 14, 2013.

A gold and silver medalist at the Beijing Summer Olympics and competitor in the 2010 World Equestrian games, Barwick will share her inspirational story of overcoming adversity with determination, spirit and an attitude of “never ending self-improvement.”

Barwick will also present a demonstration with a group of para equestrians and Lake Erie College Equine Studies students. The event begins at 9 a.m. and admission is free with advance registration. There is a $10 fee for walk-ins on the day of the event.

Barwick was paralyzed from the waist down in 2000 after being involved in an accident while working on a movie studio ranch. However, following nine weeks of rehabilitation she began her career of competitive riding. She moved to Colorado and Florida to study Parelli Natural Horsemanship and applied it to Dressage.

Barwick is based in Florida.
