The Equine Club at Michigan State University’s (MSU) College of Veterinary Medicine will be hosting its first annual Stallion Service Auction fundraiser. Stallion services for 2005 could be purchased for half the stallion’s regular stud fee. Bidding for the all-breed, online auction will take place Oct. 1-31, 2004. The web site, which can be seen at www.cvm.msu.edu/stallion/index.htm, currently features 37 stallions representing 14 breeds, for a total of over $30,000 in donated services. More stallions will be added until Sept. 1.
The Equine Club, an organization of veterinary and veterinary technician students, seeks to advance the education of future equine veterinarians and veterinary technicians. The Equine Club is hosting this Stallion Service Auction as a club fundraiser and as a service to both stallion and mare owners. Other Equine Club activities have included bringing in speakers who work in the horse industry, holding wet labs and demonstrations, establishing an Equine Emergency Team and a Foal Team at MSU’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital, arranging a Colostrum Network, sending students to the annual conference of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and other equine-related activities.
