Falling Tree Kills Indiana Horse Trail Guide

An Indiana woman has died from injuries sustained when a falling tree struck her during a guided trail ride in Brown County State Park.
Sgt. Paul Bykowski, spokesman for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Law Enforcement, said that on June 17, 20-year-old Chelsea Ann Lovett was leading a group of riders through the park when a dead tree fell and caught the limb of a second tree. The second tree subsequently struck Lovett, killing her at the scene. No information was immediately available regarding her horse’s condition.
A second rider was treated for minor injuries sustained after falling from a horse during the incident, he said.
A Purdue University spokesperson said that Lovett was a student at the university’s School of Agriculture’s Department of Forestry and Natural Resources. At the time of the incident, Lovett was employed as a trail guide for the park’s trail ride concessionaire
