Pennsylvania Draft Horse Death Probed
Agricultural authorities in Pennsylvania are hoping that a necropsy will reveal the cause of death of a Draft horse competing at the state’s annual farm show in Harrisburg. The event features agricultural demonstrations and competitive livestock exhibitions.
Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Press Secretary Samantha Elliott Krepps said that on Jan. 10 the Belgian Draft horse was competing in a horse pulling competition at the farm show when it showed signs of distress. The animal later died.
A necropsy and a toxicology screening were performed by the Pennsylvania Veterinary Lab the following day.
"We are awaiting results," Krepps said
