According to NU Online News Service, Markel Insurance Company has announced the acquisition of Agri-Risk Services Inc., an equine retail specialty agency in Overland Park, Kan. The announcement noted that financial terms were not disclosed.

Markel is a subsidiary of Markel Corp. in Glen Ellen, Va., that underwrites commercial lines coverage for a variety of niche markets, including horse and farm programs. The company said the staff of Agri-Risk will join the firm and become part of Markel Specialty’s Agriculture Division
