The first international jumping competition in ten years was held in the Armenian Capital of Yerevan July 7-9, 2000. Riders joined in a friendly international competition held in the Yerevan Equestrian Centre, which is slowly being renovated following years of inactivity.
The Armenian Equestrian Federation, which became a full Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) member in April this year, had worked hard to re-establish equestrian sport in their country. The FEI Development Department has helped by providing training, some basic equipment and the services of the Iranian FEI Course Builder and Judge Mr Rakhshan Radpour. The Caucuses region has great potential, as in former times it provided the USSR with many of its best riders and horses.
Following the success of the event, plans are already under way for next years’ Competition
