  1. My mare has suffered from seasonal pruritic skin allergies since she was 3 years old, and she is now 17. The location of the itching is not consistent with Sweet Itch. Last year she also had a bout of asthma in the spring. It’s too early to say for sure, but for the past 14 months I have given her a supplement of a marine-based source of EPA/DHA Omega 3 fatty acids, and both her skin and respiratory symptoms have improved greatly. I will see how she does as summer progresses (usually her worst time). I must mention I have been soaking her hay to help with the respiratory symptoms, and that has helped greatly. I also try to protect her from biting insects.
