The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine’s (PVM) 2018 Horseman’s Forum will take place on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Purdue University’s Lynn Hall, at 625 Harrison Street in West Lafayette, Indiana.

“The purpose of the Horseman’s Forum is to educate horse owners and equine industry professionals about current horse health issues, ranging from basic preventive health care and husbandry topics to state-of-the-art medical advancements,” the Forum website says. “The Horseman’s Forum will be presented as a one-day seminar where questions and open discussions will be encouraged. Presenters will include Purdue faculty and staff as well as invited speakers.”

Presentation topics and speakers are slated to include:

  • Fat, Hairy, or Both? Equine Metabolic Conditions—Gillian Haanen, DVM
  • Feeding the Metabolic Horse—Joe Monroe
  • Breeding the Middle-Aged Mare—Jennifer Koziol, DVM, MS, cVMA
  • Endoscopy of the Upper Airway and Stomach—Caroline Gillespie, DVM, Dipl. ACVS-LA
  • The Trouble with Going Grey: Equine Melanoma—Jan Hawkins, DVM
  • THIS! IS! JEOPARDY! Test Your Equine Knowledge—Jase Skelton, DVM, BSc, and Kaitlin Mielnicki, DVM
  • Lameness Focus in the Prepurchase Examination—Lauren Mundy, DVM, MS
  • Donkeys and Mules and Horses, Oh My!—Stacy Tinkler, DVM, MPH, Dipl. ACVIM
  • The “Possum Disease”: An Update on EPM—Sandy Taylor, DVM, PhD
  • Deworming: What’s The Poop?—Amanda Farr, DVM
  • Research in PVM: An Update—Tim Lescun, BVSc, PhD

Additionally, attendees can attend optional treadmill and endoscopy demonstrations and a large animal hospital tour
